Permit procedures for NRW on one shared platform.

Wind farms, power plants, waste incineration or chemical plants: in Germany, many industrial installations need a permit under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) before they can be built. Applicants, permitting authorities and specialist agencies all work on the same procedure, often spread across emails, PDFs and separate systems.

For the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, KOPLA brings them together on one platform: master data, every document with its versions, requests for missing information, statements and objections, and the current stage of the procedure at a glance. As Head of Design and lead of the UX/UI team at Accenture Song, I designed the user experience and the interface, kept evolving them and supported the development team through to implementation. We built on a design system and used AI throughout the process.
